About AQ GUIDE

Connecting Astoria, One Event at a Time

AQ Guide was created with a simple mission:

Help people discover what’s happening in Astoria, and help great local businesses get the attention they deserve.

Astoria is one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in New York City. On any given day there’s live music, trivia, markets, comedy, watch parties, run clubs, cultural festivals, art openings, food pop-ups, and community meetups happening - often all at the same time.

The problem?
Most people don’t hear about them until it’s too late.  That’s where we come in.

What We Do

AQ Guide curates and shares:

  • 🎶 Live music & performances

  • 🎤 Comedy & open mics

  • 🏃 Run clubs & athletic meetups

  • 🛍️ Markets & pop-ups

  • 🎨 Art shows & creative workshops

  • 🧠 Trivia, game nights & social meetups

  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Family-friendly events

  • 🍻 Community bar & restaurant events

We focus on confirmed events and highlight experiences that bring people together in positive, welcoming spaces across Astoria, Long Island City, and nearby Queens neighborhoods.

Our goal is simple:
If something good is happening in the neighborhood, we want you to know about it.

Why AQ Guide Exists

Astoria deserves more than random flyers, scattered Instagram stories, and word-of-mouth luck.

We believe:

  • Local businesses thrive when more people show up.

  • Neighbors connect when they share experiences.

  • Community grows when people feel informed and included.

  • You shouldn’t have to scroll 25 accounts to find something to do tonight.

AQ Guide exists to make discovering Astoria easy.

For Businesses & Event Hosts

If you’re a bar, restaurant, shop, fitness studio, nonprofit, or event organizer — we want to help amplify what you’re building.

We spotlight events, promote community-driven initiatives, and help locals discover businesses they might not have known about otherwise.

When Astoria wins, we all win.

More Than a Feed

AQ Guide started on Instagram (@aq_guide) and is growing into a full local directory and calendar platform.

Our vision is to build:

  • A searchable event calendar

  • A directory of local businesses

  • Filters by interest (craft classes, happy hours, athletic meetups, family events, etc.)

  • A trusted place locals check before they make weekend plans

We’re building this for the neighborhood — and with the neighborhood.
